FAQs

Determining whether your pain is acute or persistent can be crucial in finding the right treatment approach. Acute pain typically arises suddenly due to a specific injury or event, such as a sprained ankle or a paper cut. This type of pain acts as a warning signal and usually subsides once the underlying cause has healed.
On the other hand, persistent pain (also known as chronic pain) is usually classified as lasting longer than three months and can continue even after the original injury has healed. Sometimes, persistent pain may have an unknown origin or difficult to understand why and how it came about.
If you’re unsure whether your pain is acute or persistent, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional who can help you identify the nature of your pain and guide you towards effective treatment options.
For a deeper understanding of the differences between acute pain and chronic pain, check out our blog post where we explore this topic in detail.

The timeline for experiencing a reduction in pain can vary depending on several factors, including the severity and duration of your pain, your overall health, and your commitment to the exercise program. Many clients may notice an improvement after their first session, while others may notice a change after a few weeks of consistent practice. However, it’s important to remember that everyone’s journey is unique, and some may experience relief sooner while others might take a bit longer. Regular follow-ups and adjustments to your plan can help optimise your progress.

Other factors such as proper stress management, sleep quality, and pain education may also be necessary. During our sessions, I will work with you to integrate these various elements to create a balanced and effective pain management strategy.

Movement and exercise is a powerful tool for managing and resolving pain. Exercise as a whole can help our joints and body move better, stabilise our joints, reduce inflammation, reduce tightly held muscles, and can also release natural pain killers (endorphins).
