The eligibility assessment is designed to ensure that this course is safe and effective for you. Your safety is our top priority, and this step helps ensure that you get the best results from the course while minimising any risk.

It is because you have not been able to tick all of the boxes within the course eligibility checklist. But that’s okay! Not all hope is lost. Chronic back pain can be complex, and sometimes a more personalised approach is needed. Alignment Exercise Physiology offers one-on-one sessions tailored specifically to your needs. Alternatively, talk to your doctor to discuss and gain medical clearance to embark on any exercise/movement therapy.

This course is for anyone experiencing chronic back pain (pain lasting longer than 3 months) who is ready to take control of their health. Whether you're new to exercise or have tried various treatments in the past, this course is designed to provide practical tools and strategies that can help manage and reduce back pain.
To enrol in the course, you must first complete the eligibility assessment to ensure that the course is safe and effective for you. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements of the course, you may alternatively gain medical clearance, or request 1:1 online sessions with an Exercise Physiologist from Alignment Exercise Physiology.

The eligibility assessment is an essential step to ensure your safety and the effectiveness of the program. You’ll need to review and tick all the boxes in the assessment to confirm the course is suitable for your specific needs. If you’re unable to tick all the boxes, this indicates that additional medical clearance or guidance may be required to ensure the exercises and strategies are safe for your condition.
In such cases, you’ll have the option to obtain medical clearance or book a 1:1 session with an Exercise Physiologist, like myself, to tailor a program that aligns with your individual needs. This process ensures you can participate confidently and get the most out of the course without compromising your safety.

Acute back pain usually comes on suddenly and generally lasts less than 6 weeks. It’s often caused by something specific, like lifting something heavy or an awkward movement, and it usually gets better as your body heals.
Chronic back pain, however, lasts longer than 3 months and can stick around even after the original injury has surpassed the general healing time-frame. It’s more complicated and can be influenced by various lifestyle factors as well.
The main difference is that acute pain is temporary, while chronic pain is ongoing and needs a different approach to manage it effectively.

Yes, this course provides general principles for managing and treating back pain that are applicable to various conditions that may contribute to back pain.
Although this course is only suitable for people who experience back pain that has been around for 3 months or longer (chronic pain). If you’re back pain is acute (recently established), we recommend consulting with a healthcare provider before beginning any exercise program.
To enrol in the course, you must first complete the eligibility assessment to ensure that the course is safe and effective for you. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements of the course, you may alternatively gain medical clearance to then participate in this course, or request 1:1 online sessions with an Exercise Physiologist from Alignment Exercise Physiology.

The course is designed to be completed over 8 weeks, and you will be given access to one module per week. Allowing 1 week for each module provides sufficient time to absorb the information and complete the activities.
However, since you have lifetime access, you can move through the material at your own pace if you prefer.

No equipment is needed for the exercises in this course, other than possibly a yoga or exercise mat for added comfort. All exercises are adaptable based on your needs and can be completed with little to no equipment.

Each week, you’ll receive a new module with a video lesson explaining the week’s focus, followed by a practical assessment, activity, and exercises that ensure the course is designed around your unique needs. The content will build week by week to ensure steady progress and long-term pain management.
